our offerings

Platte Valley Youth Theatre (PVYT) is excited for our slate of 2025 youth programming offerings! Whether you are an experienced performer or just dipping your toes in, there's something for everyone. We create a safe space for our young actors to develop their love for theatre, connect with peers from diverse backgrounds, find inspiration and creativity, and expand their world view through theatrical content.

Quick Curtain Call: A One-Week Theatre Adventure Camp

  • JUNE 16-JUNE 20

    • 2nd -5th Grade: 9:00-10:30 a.m.

    • 6th-8th Grade: 10:30 am -12:30 p.m. 

    • Performance:  June 20 - 7:00 p.m. 

  • COST: $125 per youth

  • LOCATION: 

    • ​June 16-19: First Presbyterian Church of Brighton (510 S 27th Ave, Brighton, CO 80601)

    • June 20: Bison Ridge Rec Center (13905 E 112th Ave, Commerce City, CO 80022)

Dive into the magic of theatre in just one week! Join us for a fun-filled summer camp where you'll audition, rehearse, and perform a play from start to finish. We'll explore acting techniques, character development, and teamwork, all while building confidence and making new friends. Everyone who wants to participate will be cast, and we'll create a memorable performance to share with family and friends at the end of the week! Get ready to shine!

Musical Theatre Classes

  • Two 4-Week Sessions (each session will learn different songs)

  • Session 1: JULY 9, 16, 23, 30 

    • Broadway Beginners: 2nd-5th grade, 9:00-10:00 a.m.

    • Advanced Artists: 6th-8th grade, 11:00-12:00 p.m.

    • LOCATION: First Presbyterian Church of Brighton (510 S 27th Ave, Brighton, CO 80601)

  • Session 2: SEPTEMBER 3, 10, 17, 24

    • Broadway Beginners: 2nd- 5th grade, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

    • Advanced Artists: 6th-8th grade, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

    • LOCATION: Bison Ridge Rec Center (13905 E 112th Ave, Commerce City, CO 80022)

  • COST: $70 per youth per session

Broadway Beginners: 2nd- 5th grade
Want to master the magic of musical theatre? This is your chance! We'll break down the basics of singing, acting, and dancing, then combine them to perform iconic musical numbers. Learn the techniques every performer needs to shine, build your confidence, and get ready to take the stage!

 

Advanced Artists: 6th-8th grade
Whether you're a seasoned stage veteran or brand new to the spotlight, this class is your ticket to theatrical triumph! We'll build on your existing skills (or discover brand new ones!), dive into show-stopping musical numbers, and supercharge your confidence in singing, acting, and dancing. Get ready to shine brighter than ever before!

Acting Classes: Playful Performers

  • Two 4-Week Sessions (each session will learn different scenes)

  • Session 1: JULY 9, 16, 23, 30 - 10:00-11:00 a.m

  • Session 2: SEPTEMBER 3, 10, 17, 24 - 5:30-6:30 p.m. 

    • LOCATION: Bison Ridge Rec Center (13905 E 112th Ave, Commerce City, CO 80022)

  • 4th-8th grade

  • COST: $70 per youth per session

Ready to join a theatrical team? We'll be diving into a world of collaborative fun, playing hilarious improv games, mastering the art of physical storytelling, and building killer scenes together! Get ready to laugh, learn, and shine alongside your fellow actors, culminating in a performance that'll showcase your awesome teamwork!

Mini Sessions: Seasonal Musical Theatre Workshops

  • Two One-Day Sessions (each session will learn different songs)

  • Session 1: OCTOBER 11 - Halloween-themed songs 

    • 2nd-5th grade - 9:00-11:30 a.m.

    • 5th-8th grade - 12:30-3:30 p.m.

  • Session 2: NOVEMBER 15 - Winter-themed songs

    • 2nd-5th grade - 9:00-11:30 a.m.

    • 5th-8th grade - 12:30-3:30 p.m.

  • COST: $25 per youth per session

  • LOCATION: Bison Ridge Rec Center (13905 E 112th Ave, Commerce City, CO 80022)

Come join us for a seasonal musical theater workshop. Learn an entire musical theatre number in a few hours and perform it for your family at the end of the class! These sessions will increase your skills of learning musical theater quickly, and increase your confidence performing through hard work, dedication and lots of fun!

program leaders

Elizabeth Bohannon grew up in St. George, UT, in a very musical family. Her love for performing and theater started at a young age. She graduated from Utah State University with a BFA in Theater Education, and a minor in Spanish Teaching. She loves teaching, and inspiring youth to be their best selves through theatre. She moved to Colorado in 2021, and hopes to never leave! She is thankful for the support of her husband, Tucker, and her three small children. She loves being a part of the PVYT team and to work with these talented directors and kids!

 

Leslie Zirker has worked as a choreographer, stage director, and music director for local high schools since 2000. She has co-directed for PVYT since 2012 and is on the Board of Directors. Leslie has been a performer with many professional musical groups over the years in Northern Colorado. She loved performing as a youth and enjoys teaching the arts to kids. Leslie appreciates the support of her husband and five kids.
